According to reports, the Saints reworked Jordan's deal after having an uncertain future after the 2024 campaign. Jordan wasn't the only player on the roster who got that new deal but Tyrann Mathieu is coming back on a different contract too. However, the veteran may look like he's staying but since he's aging the Saints may wind up trading him either way to see if they can get some draft picks in return.

Even though General Manager Mickey Loomis refuses to rebuild since the Drew Brees-Era, the Saints might have no other choice but to ship him to another team. Originally selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the defensive end isn't getting any younger and the Super Bowl window is closing on him. The Saints are not in a good place to win a Lombardi Trophy anytime soon so the least the team could do is look into trading him. Jordan may be a Saint "for life" but if there's an opportunity elsewhere to continue playing for a ring, he will probably take it.

Saints May Trade Hall of Famer Cameron Jordan Despite Contract Restructure

4 Suitors Emerge

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens haven't made any moves to improve their defensive firepower. After losing cornerback Brandon Stephens, the team could look to add someone like Jordan to bring Justin (Nnamdi Madubuike) back to life. Broderick Washington and Travis Jones haven't done much to open up the holes for Roquan Smith and Kyle Van Noy. Jordan might not have the same speed but he has the experience to be a solid rotational threat.

Los Angeles Chargers

For the Chargers, the team lost Poona Ford after having a phenomenal 2024 season but made up for it by re-signing Teair Tart. No one should expect him to do much now that Ford isn't around to open up the gaps. Perhaps, since Jim Harbaugh loves to win football games in the trenches, Jordan could fulfill that promise. He isn't on the elite level anymore but after losing Morgan Fox too, he could be solid depth to get after the quarterback.

Dallas Cowboys

This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys knew they were going to lose a few defensive talents as they've already lost Demarcus Lawrence and Jourdan Lewis. The team made up for it by signing Dante Fowler Jr., Jack Sanborn and trading for Kenneth Murray. They have yet to find a capable replacement and while they have faith in Sam Williams' return, they could add Cameron Jordan for depth to mentor this group. Jordan won't be perfect but the Cowboys don't need him to for them to get something out of the defensive pass rusher.

Carolina Panthers

Last offseason, the Carolina Panthers focused on improving its offense for quarterback Bryce Young. This year is different, the team is finally signing a capable defensive line, especially for Derrick Brown's return. Tershawn Wharton is an excellent addition after missing out on Milton Williams. Jordan working opposite of Brown could give the Panthers a legitimate chance for at least a wild-card round.

BREAKING: Bills All-Pro Star Takes Paycut, May Signal Trade? – 5 Possible Fits https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/18/breaking-bills-all-pro-star-matt-milano-takes-paycut-may-signal-trade-5-possible-fits/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/18/breaking-bills-all-pro-star-matt-milano-takes-paycut-may-signal-trade-5-possible-fits/#respond Tue, 18 Mar 2025 22:14:35 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=223409 The Buffalo Bills star linebacker Matt Milano will take a paycut to no surprise after taking up most of the team's cap space. According to reports, the team is fixing up Milano's contract after missing some time the past two seasons as he enters what could be his last season with the Bills. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Boston College product is heading for free agency but the team might want to consider trading him if they don't see any future in him anymore. Since Milano hasn't been able to stay healthy, it doesn't make sense for the Bills to keep him around and they should consider the choice of sending him to a team for a fresh start.

This 2025 season will determine his future with the Buffalo Bills and if he doesn't perform up to standards, the team will likely let him test free agency. However, it shouldn't be surprising if they put him on the trade block before the beginning of the season to see if they could get something in return for his services. When healthy, the veteran linebacker has proven he could be a vital edge rusher while recording at least 78 total tackles in a season four times and 10 interceptions in his entire career. The linebacker is in his last year so another team could take a chance on him for one season to determine if he's worth the long-term risk and these five suitors could do that.

BREAKING: Bills All-Pro Star Matt Milano Takes Paycut, May Signal Trade? - 5 Possible Fits

Potential Destinations

Los Angeles Chargers

After releasing Joey Bosa, the Los Angeles Chargers need a capable veteran linebacker to pair with Khalil Mack. While they will probably draft a linebacker in this year's draft, there's no guarantee whoever they pick will be ready for full-time duties. Matt Milano could revive this pass-rushing unit which was at their peak last season. As long as he stays healthy, he could fulfill the wishes of Jim Harbaugh's philosophy of winning football games with a physical defense.

Washington Commanders

This trade would be a dream come true for the head coach Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders. Last offseason, they brought in Bobby Wagner on a one-year and made promising strides where he's returning again. Even though Dante Fowler Jr. is leaving, they have a bolstering weapon in Frankie Luvu. Milano and Luvu could pair up in the middle to stop the passes in the aerial and it could work out since both linebackers are ball-hawkers.

Baltimore Ravens

The same ball-hawking mindset could apply to the Baltimore Ravens too. Kyle Van Noy is entering the final year of his contract and Milano could be a worthwhile replacement. Milano won't be on the same level as him but it keeps the Ravens competitive if only he becomes a free agent next offseason since the Bills probably won't trade to their AFC rival.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints probably have one most promising linebacker units in the league. Pete Werner and Willie Gay along with Demario Davis are three formidable starters. However, Davis aging so they might need someone like Milano for a rotational basis in the defense.

Dallas Cowboys

Meanwhile, the Cowboys don't need a linebacker but they could have someone in the middle if Eric Kendricks doesn't return. Dallas has yet to extend Micah Parsons but if they do that, they're in good hands with Dante Fowler Jr. and Jack Sanborn. Milano won't start but he could be an effective option when the defense plays zone under Matt Eberflus.

According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, the former Baltimore Raven standout is not looking to retire anytime soon as he believes he has an opportunity elsewhere. Originally selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product is a free agent for a second time in his career after spending several years with the Jets and now becomes one of the best available on the market. However, the linebacker had a questionable start in his tenure with New York but he managed to produce high-level consistent seasons while capturing his fifth Pro Bowler nod.

It's no surprise the Jets are moving on from Mosley as he has two years left on his current deal. After resigning Jermaine Sherwood to a new deal, the Jets are moving on with younger talent and the emergence of quarterback Justin Fields means the team is heading in a different direction. Meanwhile, there hasn't been much of an active market for Mosley which is a bit surprising but the free agency has quiet as well. There are still high-level veteran players on the market but these five teams could bank a chance on the All-Pro.

ESPN: Five-Time All-Pro Free Agent CJ Mosley Intends to Play in 2025 - 5 Potential Suitors

Possible Next Teams

Baltimore Ravens

Last offseason, the Baltimore Ravens didn't have any luck signing new talent to their defense after losing Jadeveon Clowney and Geno Stone. The limited cap space came at the worst time for Baltimore's defense as Trenton Simpson had large shoes to fill. He didn't have an astonishing campaign so it's time for the Ravens to find a capable veteran to provide some relief at least one side of the edge rush opposite of Roquan Smith and Kyle Van Noy. Mosley might be slowing down but he knows John Harbaugh and what they're looking for.

Los Angeles Chargers

If anyone can bring out the best in Mosley, it's head coach Jim Harbaugh. The team brought back Khalil Mack on a one-year deal but after cutting Joey Bosa, they need a capable upgrade to provide some relief. Mosley isn't the long-term answer for the Chargers but since Harbaugh is old-fashioned, the team could use the veteran for as long as they can.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders constructed themselves a fast pass-rushing defense with the additions of Dante Fowler Jr. and Bobby Wagner. However, since Wagner is the only captain who's returning to this team, the Commanders will need to search for a replacement since they lost Fowler to the Cowboys. Mosley won't put over five sacks but this roster is capable of bringing out the best in him after bringing something out of Wagner last year that no one has seen before.

Dallas Cowboys

Speaking of the Dallas Cowboys, free-agent Eric Kendricks is still available on the market so it's surprising the team isn't looking into him. However, after signing Jack Sanborn and Fowler, the Cowboys are in good hands in the pass rush. There's no such thing as too many linebackers even though Micah Parsons is waiting for a new deal the team should bring on Mosley for one year to serve as a rotational edge rusher.

New Orleans Saints

The offense doesn't look promising for the New Orleans Saints this upcoming 2025 season. This means the team will probably continue to maximize their chances to win football games. Demario Davis is returning for what could be his last season in the league and Chase Young is returning. Mosley is on the verge of retirement himself but he could come at a bargain for the Saints who are taking a hit in their cap space

According to a report, Fotu isn't the best defensive lineman available but he still has a lot of upside as a rotational piece. Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Utah product didn't have an easy rookie season after being put on the injured reserve with an ankle injury but later was activated. Fotu is no reliable starter and is injury prone but he could be a worthy investment in a team's pass rush.

The NFL Free Agency hasn't been the best this offseason despite talent like Jonathan Allen and Javon Kinlaw being available. Fotu spent the first few years with the Arizona Cardinals before getting a new opportunity with the New York Jets. The defensive tackle had to miss the entire campaign with the Jets in his first tenure with them and to no surprise, the team isn't going to bring him back. Fotu doesn't have a lot of miles in him but these five teams could take a chance on him for what could be his last opportunity in the league if he can't improve.

Best Available Free Agent Leki Fotu "Gem" Could Have Suitors Soon - 5 Possible Next Teams

Potential Destinations

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints already had themselves a potential steal in free agency this offseason after snatching Davon Godchaux. Many could anticipate winning the starting job while Nathan Shepherd could continue to develop. This means the Saints should still be on a bargain hunt considering their salary cap situation. Fotu won't start but he could be a solid rotational defensive lineman.

Baltimore Ravens

For the Ravens, it's never a bad idea for the team to bolster its pass-rushing unit. Last season, the Ravens didn't have the same defense they were hoping for since losing Jadeveon Clowney, Geno Stone and a few veteran talents. While the team is getting younger, the team should add a man like Fotu to salvage the trenches behind Nnamdi Madubuike to provide some relief for Broderick Washington and Travis Jones.

Kansas City Chiefs

The same can be said about the Kansas City Chiefs even though they have one of the best defensive tackles in Chris Jones. The Chiefs did lose Tershawn Wharton which could become very costly if they don't add immediate depth, especially for George Karlaftis. Meanwhile, the team could sign Fotu to get some rotational talent to spare other players breathing room.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers had their vision of improving the offense for quarterback Bryce Young but it's time for the team to do the same for its defense. They've done phenomenal acquiring Tershawn Wharton for Derrick Brown's return but it's never a bad idea to add depth. The Panthers need plenty of it and while Fotu isn't the best talent, he could have an upside in Carolina.

Los Angeles Chargers

Nobody loves playing in the trenches more than head coach Jim Harbaugh. After losing Poona Ford, the Chargers should look for another capable lineman to salvage this defense. Fotu won't drastically change the pass rush but he could provide some relief.

According to the breaking news, the Bengals just gave monster contract extensions for Chase and Higgins, which is a win for Joe Burrow's passing offense but it doesn't look promising for other athletes they need to pay. However, the Bengals are working on a new deal for Trey Hendrickson who requested a trade earlier this offseason, but he wasn't the only one.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt was another defensive piece that put in a request for a trade and it's looking more apparent that will happen. Originally selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former NC State product enters the final year of his three-year contract so he isn't waiting around until next offseason. With that, the Bengals should make it a priority to trade him as he has a lot of upside. Cincinnati has a lot of money left over even with the monster extensions but they're working on a new deal for Hendrickson who will accumulate most of the salary cap. After recording ninth in total tackles in the league, Pratt should have plenty of trade suitors.

Jamarr Chase and Tee Higgins Blockbuster Extensions Means Possible Trade is Imminent for Germaine Pratt

Potential Next Teams

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders lost Dante Fowler Jr. back to the Cowboys after putting in more than 10 sacks in 2024. However, they were able to retain veteran Bobby Wagner on another one-year deal but as much as the offense looks promising, the team needs work on defense. Jayden Daniels has a capable pass game with the trade of Deebo Samuel so it's time to add formidable talent for the foreseeable future and that could be trading for Pratt.

New Orleans Saints

Meanwhile, the Saints found a way to afford at least a high-level defensive talent in Justin Reid this offseason. If they can do that, it's possible general manager Mickey Loomis can find a way to get creative since he already doesn't want to rebuild a new team since 2020. DeMario Davis has an uncertain future this offseason and if they trade for Pratt, the team should be in good hands with at least three-headed monsters of Pete Werner, Jaylan Ford and Pratt.

Los Angeles Chargers

Unlike the Saints, the Los Angeles Chargers have plenty of cap space to facilitate a trade to bolster their defensive pass rush. Head coach Jim Harbaugh loves playing in the trenches and winning football games with a physicality. After releasing Joey Bosa, the team needs a capable opposite of Khalil Mack since signing a one-year extension with the team. Pratt could be the perfect fit in this unit to get the best out of Mack for what could be his final season in the league.

Carolina Panthers

Depending on what the Carolina Panthers do with Jadeveon Clowney, the team will need to find another linebacker either way. The Panthers have done phenomenal getting defensive linemen like Tershawn Wharton to help navigate Derrick Brown's return with another body. It's time for head coach Dave Canales to target some more linebacker talent and trading for Pratt could be a fit to ram the holes wherever there's opening.

Despite the uncertainty, the Cincinnati Bengals got wide receivers Jamarr Chase and Tee Higgins new extensions who now get the chance to stay with the team for the foreseeable future. According to the breaking news, the Bengals just gave monster contract extensions for Chase and Higgins, which is a win for Joe Burrow’s passing offense but it doesn’t look promising for other athletes they need to pay. However, the Bengals are working on a new deal for Trey Hendrickson who requested a trade earlier this offseason, but he wasn’t the only one.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt was another defensive piece that put in a request for a trade and it’s looking more apparent that will happen. Originally selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former NC State product enters the final year of his three-year contract so he isn’t waiting around until next offseason. With that, the Bengals should make it a priority to trade him as he has a lot of upside. Cincinnati has a lot of money left over even with the monster extensions but they’re working on a new deal for Hendrickson who will accumulate most of the salary cap. After recording ninth in total tackles in the league, Pratt should have plenty of trade suitors.

Jayden Daniels has a capable pass game with the trade of Deebo Samuel so it’s time to add formidable talent for the foreseeable future and that could be trading for Pratt.

New Orleans Saints

Meanwhile, the Saints found a way to afford at least a high-level defensive talent in Justin Reid this offseason. If they can do that, it’s possible general manager Mickey Loomis can find a way to get creative since he already doesn’t want to rebuild a new team since 2020.

According to a Bleacher Report, the safety is a top 7 "intriguing" athlete known for his ball skills and enticing coverage on the field. Originally selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Utah product always finds himself around the ball more frequently in the aerial attack which could be a useful element for the team's secondaries who play more man-to-man coverage. However, he isn't reliable when it comes to the run so that may be a reason why he could be risky he may have to settle for a backup at this point in his career before taking on a starting job.

The safety may not have the size against the run but he does have the hands to pull in a crucial interception when possible. Despite that, the NFL journey for Blackmon was off to a rocky start as the safety on the reserve list still recovering from his injury. The veteran eventually came back finishing his rookie season with 35 solo tackles, six pass deflections and one interception in 15 games and 14 starts. Following the departure of Malik Hooker, all of the eyeballs were on for Blackmon to pair him with Khari Willis.

Blackmon is still a consistent and versatile piece in the secondary so but he might have to settle for a short-term deal to prove that he could provide some upside for these three teams.

Potential Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

Despite releasing Marcus Williams, the Baltimore Ravens have yet to fill that glaring depth hole. The Ravens had one of the worst pass defenses in 2024 but head coach John Harbaugh made it easier by benching Williams for Ar'Darius Washington. Things were on the right track but it wasn't enough to bring home a Super Bowl, the future is bright for the safety unit since Kyle Hamilton is in a good spot to receive an extension. The team dodged a bullet letting Brandon Stephens become a free agent since he didn't perform well himself but someone like Blackmon could make their issues go away.

He might not be able to stop the run but that's why Baltimore still has one of the best pass rushers in the league. Blackmon isn't taking over Washington's job but he could be a key contributor in situational moments on third downs. He isn't getting every play, while it gives Washington more breathing room to grow.

New Orleans Saints

Even though the New Orleans Saints cornerback department took a hit this offseason, the safety unit is in good hands. Justin Reid somehow signed with the Saints despite the salary cap of this team. However, it's not surprising since the organization is refusing to rebuild and their bringing back Derek Carr as their signal-caller is an example of that.

Despite that, the team needs depth and Blackmon could play cornerback. The Saints don't have a capable veteran in their cornerback room. Perhaps, Blackmon could be their juice to regenerate Kool-Aid McKinstry back to life.

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs are on the short end of the stick. The team found themselves bringing in a reliable cornerback like Kristian Fulton to help Trent McDuffie since losing L'Jarius Sneed in 2024 to a trade. The Chiefs need to do the same about their safety unit since losing Justin Reid. Blackmon is no Reid but he could be a worthy consolation prize to help Bryan Cook in the aerial attack.

However, after the recent Cooper Rush signing with the Baltimore Ravens, there could be some type of interest soon from teams this offseason. While Lance is struggling to find a new opportunity, it might not be the end of his NFL career as several rosters are looking for a new quarterback but Lance may have to settle for a backup job. Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former North Dakota State product should be picking up steam in the coming days as long as Aaron Rogers and Russell Wilson sign and pick their teams sooner rather than later.

Lance is no "surefire" starter but he still provides a lot of upside for any team willing to give him a legitimate shot. In 2023, the Dallas Cowboys made the move to trade for him but never really gave him a real opportunity as he stuck around as the third-string quarterback behind Rush for the past two seasons. The tools that Lance provides won't be disappearing anytime soon as the signal-caller isn't turning mid-age until May. Lance has a high ceiling with any team in the league as long as he can get a shot as a backup.

"Struggling" Free Agent Trey Lance Should Have Suitors Soon - 5 Possible Next Teams

Potential Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens may have got Cooper Rush this free agency but it doesn't mean the team shouldn't get another quarterback. Rush and Trey Lance kept the Cowboys intact for the majority of the 2024 campaign and they could be a key asset behind Lamar Jackson. This could be Lance's opportunity to beat out Rush for the potential backup job as Baltimore has the same style that fits Lance.

Washington Commanders

To no surprise, the Washington Commanders are bringing back Marcus Mariota on another one-year deal. He was a solid support system for Jayden Daniels' rookie year but this could be Mariota's last season with Washington as he will likely earn a potential starting opportunity elsewhere in 2026. Trey Lance reuniting with Dan Quinn makes sense and he could be a key contributor for the offense.

Carolina Panthers

For the Panthers, the team finally has their faith in quarterback Bryce Young despite benching him earlier last year in favor of Andy Dalton. However, Young came back into the lineup and even though he's the starter, there's no guarantee that head coach Dave Canales won't bench him again. Dalton is returning again as the backup but they might benefit from Lance starting to get them back in the wild card if Young underperforms again.

New Orleans Saints

This might be the best likely scenario for Trey Lance. The New Orleans Saints fans were not happy to hear that quarterback Derek Carr is back. Spencer Rattler is their only dependable option but he's still developing. Perhaps, the Saints should take the route of giving Lance a shot if they bench Carr.

Los Angeles Chargers

Even though the Chargers are re-signing Taylor Heinicke, it's never a bad idea to get another quarterback. Jim Harbaugh believes in Justin Herbert and says he's one of the greatest to do it. However, they shouldn't stray away from getting Lance in the mix.

According to the breaking news, the Vikings surprisingly made a big trade despite giving Aaron Jones a new contract. The Vikings sent shockwaves throughout the league and with that, they have two capable backfield pieces to help whoever will take over as quarterback this upcoming Fall. The ground game gets easier for the team but the road is a long one for running backs like Akers who's still available on the market.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Florida State product made some strides in his rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams, recording the fourth-most rushing yards by any NFL player in a single game. However, it quickly came falling down as his sophomore campaign didn't pan out tearing his Achilles Tendon while working out. Akers requested a trade shockingly the following year but stuck around finishing the season notching 188 carries for 786 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. The final year with the Rams was slow for the majority of it and that's when the Rams traded him that year to the Vikings in his first stint but went back and forth between Minnesota and Houston.

Akers probably won't earn a starting job in the league anymore but he could be a capable backup for these three teams.

Jordan Mason Trade May Spell End For Vikings Free Agent Cam Akers

Possible Next Teams

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have not figured out a Plan B as they're avoiding another rebuild this offseason. After releasing backup Jamaal Williams, it leaves a glaring hole behind star Alvin Kamara and the ground game for the Saints. Cam Akers isn't going to get every first down but it gives Kamara some breathing room on the sideline while they develop Kendre Miller.

Baltimore Ravens

For the Ravens, the running back room is a tricky situation as far as depth. Derrick Henry will get his contract extension but the team may want to do it before the 2025 season since the price tag will only go up after this season if he performs well. Meanwhile, Keaton Mitchell came back and didn't make much of an impact on Baltimore's run game behind quarterback Lamar Jackson. He's been pretty much of a bust while Justice Hill is a reliable backup in some running moments.

Hill is typically dependable on the dump-off plays and setting up screens so they need another body to fill the competition for Mitchell. Akers might win the job and potentially revive his career behind one of the most ferocious offenses in the league.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers made several moves on defense but they did address the running back position at the last minute in free agency. Rico Dowdle signing a one-year only means they're only putting in temporary replacements until Jonathan Brooks returns in 2026. With that, the Panthers should do a little dissecting of the depth chart and see how he can fare with Akers as two potential runners to assist Chuba Hubbard.

Los Angeles Chargers

The running back room will look completely different from what Jim Harbaugh is looking for. While they got their hard-nosed runner in Najee Harris on a one-year contract, they could use a speedster to replace Gus Edwards after cutting him. Akers might not get most of the snaps but he's a worthy investment since the Chargers look like they're taking the cheap route despite having phenomenal cap space.

According to the breaking news, the Titans are moving on from the cornerback even though the team is already thin in their secondary unit. Originally selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Colorado product came into the league getting a chance with the Dallas Cowboys to compete for a start against others including Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown and Orlando Scandrick. Former Cowboy head coach Jason Garrett named him the fourth-string cornerback to start his rookie year but slowly began as a starter but some lingering injuries kept him out of action.

Awuzie had a better year the following season starting opposite of 2018 draft pick Byron Jones and had a few promising performances that intrigued the team to keep him in the lineup. After recording 57 solo tackles, 11 pass deflections, one interception and one fumble in his sophomore season, the Cowboys found some life in their struggling secondary. However, it didn't last long until COVID came around and injuries continued to pile during the 2020 season but the Bengals gave him a new starting opportunity.

Awuzie has been battling injuries for most of his NFL Career so it looks like the cornerback will have to settle for a backup role. He surprisingly made the cut as a starter last season with the Titans opposite L'Jarius Sneed since the trade. However, this upcoming season is most likely a different story.

Breaking: Titans Cut Former Second Round Bust Chidobe Awuzie - 3 Possible Next Teams

Potential Destinations

Dallas Cowboys

The secondary for the Dallas Cowboys will look completely different next season as the team lost Jourdan Lewis to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Cowboys made up for it by trading for Kaiir Elam to give some depth behind Trevon Diggs who wasn't the same the past 2024 campaign. However, the team could use some more help for DaRon Bland as Awuzie probably won't start for Dallas again.

Awuzie isn't going to be the same force he had with Dallas as he did in his second season but it reunites him in this secondary unit. The Cowboys can't depend on Diggs forever as he's been a part of trade rumors so it'll be an interesting development as it all unfolds.

New Orleans Saints

After losing Marshon Lattimore in a trade last year, the Saints have yet to find a capable veteran to withhold the secondary unit. New Orleans was without Paulson Adebo as well with a season-ending injury but the team is now losing him to the Giants this offseason since signing a new deal. Kool-Aid McKinstry isn't ready for large duties as he's still developing so the Saints need some type of replacement. While the team did well in the safety unit acquiring Justin Reid somehow with their cap space, they need a veteran to replicate the success Reid had.

Awuzie might not be the ideal solution for the Saints but as the market is getting thinner and cap space, the team has no other choice.

Baltimore Ravens

The same case can be said about the Baltimore Ravens. They lost Brandon Stephens in free agency and haven't found a capable replacement after he had one of the worst seasons either way. The Ravens restructured Marlon Humphrey's contract so they could either sign a temporary veteran like Awuzie for relief until Nate Wiggins is ready for full-time snaps.
