The New Orleans Saints will likely trade the future Hall of Famer Cameron Jordan despite his contract restructure this offseason. According to reports, the Saints reworked Jordan’s deal after having an uncertain future after the 2024 campaign. Jordan wasn’t the only player on the roster who got that new deal but Tyrann Mathieu is coming back on a different contract too. However, the veteran may look like he’s staying but since he’s aging the Saints may wind up trading him either way to see if they can get some draft picks in return.

Even though General Manager Mickey Loomis refuses to rebuild since the Drew Brees-Era, the Saints might have no other choice but to ship him to another team. Broderick Washington and Travis Jones haven’t done much to open up the holes for Roquan Smith and Kyle Van Noy. Jordan might not have the same speed but he has the experience to be a solid rotational threat.

For the Chargers, the team lost Poona Ford after having a phenomenal 2024 season but made up for it by re-signing Teair Tart. No one should expect him to do much now that Ford isn’t around to open up the gaps. Perhaps, since Jim Harbaugh loves to win football games in the trenches, Jordan could fulfill that promise. He isn’t on the elite level anymore but after losing Morgan Fox too, he could be solid depth to get after the quarterback.

Dallas Cowboys

This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys knew they were going to lose a few defensive talents as they’ve already lost Demarcus Lawrence and Jourdan Lewis. The team made up for it by signing Dante Fowler Jr., Jack Sanborn and trading for Kenneth Murray. They have yet to find a capable replacement and while they have faith in Sam Williams’ return, they could add Cameron Jordan for depth to mentor this group. Jordan won’t be perfect but the Cowboys don’t need him to for them to get something out of the defensive pass rusher.

Carolina Panthers

Last offseason, the Carolina Panthers focused on improving its offense for quarterback Bryce Young. This year is different, the team is finally signing a capable defensive line, especially for Derrick Brown’s return. Tershawn Wharton is an excellent addition after missing out on Milton Williams. Jordan working opposite of Brown could give the Panthers a legitimate chance for at least a wild-card round.

According to reports, the team is fixing up Milano’s contract after missing some time the past two seasons as he enters what could be his last season with the Bills. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Boston College product is heading for free agency but the team might want to consider trading him if they don’t see any future in him anymore. Since Milano hasn’t been able to stay healthy, it doesn’t make sense for the Bills to keep him around and they should consider the choice of sending him to a team for a fresh start.

This 2025 season will determine his future with the Buffalo Bills and if he doesn’t perform up to standards, the team will likely let him test free agency. However, it shouldn’t be surprising if they put him on the trade block before the beginning of the season to see if they could get something in return for his services. When healthy, the veteran linebacker has proven he could be a vital edge rusher while recording at least 78 total tackles in a season four times and 10 interceptions in his entire career. This trade would be a dream come true for the head coach Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders. Last offseason, they brought in Bobby Wagner on a one-year and made promising strides where he’s returning again. Even though Dante Fowler Jr. is leaving, they have a bolstering weapon in Frankie Luvu. Milano and Luvu could pair up in the middle to stop the passes in the aerial and it could work out since both linebackers are ball-hawkers.

Five-time Pro Bowler free agent CJ Mosley intends to play this upcoming season despite his release from the New York Jets this offseason. According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the former Baltimore Raven standout is not looking to retire anytime soon as he believes he has an opportunity elsewhere. Originally selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product is a free agent for a second time in his career after spending several years with the Jets and now becomes one of the best available on the market. However, the linebacker had a questionable start in his tenure with New York but he managed to produce high-level consistent seasons while capturing his fifth Pro Bowler nod.

It’s no surprise the Jets are moving on from Mosley as he has two years left on his current deal. After resigning Jermaine Sherwood to a new deal, the Jets are moving on with younger talent and the emergence of quarterback Justin Fields means the team is heading in a different direction. Meanwhile, there hasn’t been much of an active market for Mosley which is a bit surprising but the free agency has quiet as well. Last offseason, the Baltimore Ravens didn’t have any luck signing new talent to their defense after losing Jadeveon Clowney and Geno Stone. He didn’t have an astonishing campaign so it’s time for the Ravens to find a capable veteran to provide some relief at least one side of the edge rush opposite of Roquan Smith and Kyle Van Noy. Mosley might be slowing down but he knows John Harbaugh and what they’re looking for.

If anyone can bring out the best in Mosley, it’s head coach Jim Harbaugh. Mosley isn’t the long-term answer for the Chargers but since Harbaugh is old-fashioned, the team could use the veteran for as long as they can.

Despite the uncertainty, the Cincinnati Bengals got wide receivers Jamarr Chase and Tee Higgins new extensions who now get the chance to stay with the team for the foreseeable future. According to the breaking news, the Bengals just gave monster contract extensions for Chase and Higgins, which is a win for Joe Burrow’s passing offense but it doesn’t look promising for other athletes they need to pay. However, the Bengals are working on a new deal for Trey Hendrickson who requested a trade earlier this offseason, but he wasn’t the only one.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt was another defensive piece that put in a request for a trade and it’s looking more apparent that will happen. Jayden Daniels has a capable pass game with the trade of Deebo Samuel so it’s time to add formidable talent for the foreseeable future and that could be trading for Pratt.

Meanwhile, the Saints found a way to afford at least a high-level defensive talent in Justin Reid this offseason. If they can do that, it’s possible general manager Mickey Loomis can find a way to get creative since he already doesn’t want to rebuild a new team since 2020. DeMario Davis has an uncertain future this offseason and if they trade for Pratt, the team should be in good hands with at least three-headed monsters of Pete Werner, Jaylan Ford and Pratt.

The NFL Free Agency is still alive this offseason entering a new week as free agent safety Julian Blackmon could receive interest from teams soon. According to a Bleacher Report, the safety is a top 7 “intriguing” athlete known for his ball skills and enticing coverage on the field. Originally selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Utah product always finds himself around the ball more frequently in the aerial attack which could be a useful element for the team’s secondaries who play more man-to-man coverage. However, he isn’t reliable when it comes to the run so that may be a reason why he could be risky he may have to settle for a backup at this point in his career before taking on a starting job.

The safety may not have the size against the run but he does have the hands to pull in a crucial interception when possible. Despite that, the NFL journey for Blackmon was off to a rocky start as the safety on the reserve list still recovering from his injury. The veteran eventually came back finishing his rookie season with 35 solo tackles, six pass deflections and one interception in 15 games and 14 starts. Following the departure of Malik Hooker, all of the eyeballs were on for Blackmon to pair him with Khari Willis.

Blackmon is still a consistent and versatile piece in the secondary so but he might have to settle for a short-term deal to prove that he could provide some upside for these three teams.

Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former North Dakota State product should be picking up steam in the coming days as long as Aaron Rogers and Russell Wilson sign and pick their teams sooner rather than later.

The Minnesota Vikings trading for running back Jordan Mason likely spells bad news for free agent Cam Akers this offseason. According to the breaking news, the Vikings surprisingly made a big trade despite giving Aaron Jones a new contract. The Vikings sent shockwaves throughout the league and with that, they have two capable backfield pieces to help whoever will take over as quarterback this upcoming Fall. The ground game gets easier for the team but the road is a long one for running backs like Akers who’s still available on the market.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Florida State product made some strides in his rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams, recording the fourth-most rushing yards by any NFL player in a single game. However, it quickly came falling down as his sophomore campaign didn’t pan out tearing his Achilles Tendon while working out. Akers requested a trade shockingly the following year but stuck around finishing the season notching 188 carries for 786 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. The final year with the Rams was slow for the majority of it and that’s when the Rams traded him that year to the Vikings in his first stint but went back and forth between Minnesota and Houston.

Akers probably won’t earn a starting job in the league anymore but he could be a capable backup for these three teams.

The New Orleans Saints have not figured out a Plan B as they’re avoiding another rebuild this offseason. After releasing backup Jamaal Williams, it leaves a glaring hole behind star Alvin Kamara and the ground game for the Saints. Cam Akers isn’t going to get every first down but it gives Kamara some breathing room on the sideline while they develop Kendre Miller.

For the Ravens, the running back room is a tricky situation as far as depth. Derrick Henry will get his contract extension but the team may want to do it before the 2025 season since the price tag will only go up after this season if he performs well. Meanwhile, Keaton Mitchell came back and didn’t make much of an impact on Baltimore’s run game behind quarterback Lamar Jackson. He’s been pretty much of a bust while Justice Hill is a reliable backup in some running moments.

Hill is typically dependable on the dump-off plays and setting up screens so they need another body to fill the competition for Mitchell. Akers might win the job and potentially revive his career behind one of the most ferocious offenses in the league.

According to the breaking news, the Titans are moving on from the cornerback even though the team is already thin in their secondary unit. Originally selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Colorado product came into the league getting a chance with the Dallas Cowboys to compete for a start against others including Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown and Orlando Scandrick. Former Cowboy head coach Jason Garrett named him the fourth-string cornerback to start his rookie year but slowly began as a starter but some lingering injuries kept him out of action.

Awuzie had a better year the following season starting opposite of 2018 draft pick Byron Jones and had a few promising performances that intrigued the team to keep him in the lineup. After recording 57 solo tackles, 11 pass deflections, one interception and one fumble in his sophomore season, the Cowboys found some life in their struggling secondary. However, it didn’t last long until COVID came around and injuries continued to pile during the 2020 season but the Bengals gave him a new starting opportunity.

Awuzie has been battling injuries for most of his NFL Career so it looks like the cornerback will have to settle for a backup role. He surprisingly made the cut as a starter last season with the Titans opposite L’Jarius Sneed since the trade. However, this upcoming season is most likely a different story.

The Cowboys made up for it by trading for Kaiir Elam to give some depth behind Trevon Diggs who wasn’t the same the past 2024 campaign. However, the team could use some more help for DaRon Bland as Awuzie probably won’t start for Dallas again.

Awuzie isn’t going to be the same force he had with Dallas as he did in his second season but it reunites him in this secondary unit. The Cowboys can’t depend on Diggs forever as he’s been a part of trade rumors so it’ll be an interesting development as it all unfolds.

New Orleans Saints

After losing Marshon Lattimore in a trade last year, the Saints have yet to find a capable veteran to withhold the secondary unit. New Orleans was without Paulson Adebo as well with a season-ending injury but the team is now losing him to the Giants this offseason since signing a new deal. Kool-Aid McKinstry isn’t ready for large duties as he’s still developing so the Saints need some type of replacement. While the team did well in the safety unit acquiring Justin Reid somehow with their cap space, they need a veteran to replicate the success Reid had.

Awuzie might not be the ideal solution for the Saints but as the market is getting thinner and cap space, the team has no other choice.

Baltimore Ravens

The same case can be said about the Baltimore Ravens. They lost Brandon Stephens in free agency and haven’t found a capable replacement after he had one of the worst seasons either way. The Ravens restructured Marlon Humphrey’s contract so they could either sign a temporary veteran like Awuzie for relief until Nate Wiggins is ready for full-time snaps.
