Geno Smith had a solid couple of years with the Seattle Seahawks. He was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders for a third-round pick and will be the new quarterback for them. What is Geno Smith’s fantasy football outlook on the Raiders?

Fantasy Football Outlook for Geno Smith
Historical Production
Smith has had a long, up-and-down career. He was drafted by the Jets in the 2013 NFL Draft and was their starting quarterback for two years. He then bounced around as a backup quarterback for seven seasons with the Jets, Giants, Chargers, and Seahawks. When Russell Wilson was traded to the Broncos, Smith was given the starting job in Seattle.
Smith had a career year in his first year as the starting quarterback in 2022, finishing as the QB5 in fantasy leagues. He followed that up with a QB19 and QB13 finish in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Smith has been a mid-tier QB2 in the last two seasons.
Geno Smith Fantasy Football Outlook Before Trade
According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players that use the site, Smith is the QB30. He is behind Jaxson Dart, Justin Fields, and Matthew Stafford but ahead of Jalen Milroe, Quinn Ewers, and Derek Carr. He is in the same range as the lower-end rookie quarterbacks, who probably will not have a starting quarterback job in 2025.
Smith had a solid season last year, completing over 70% of his passes for 4320 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns. He was a viable QB2 in fantasy and finished as a top-ten weekly quarterback seven times on the year. However, four of those were in the first five weeks of the season, but he did finish strong with two top-five finishes to close out the season.
Geno Smith Fantasy Football Outlook After Trade
Smith will be 35 years old next season in the final year of his contract. He will be looking for a new contract. Smith had a strong cast of playmakers around him last year. He had DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Tyler Lockett. The playmakers are a lot worse in Las Vegas. Behind wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and tight end Brock Bowers, there was not much consistent production for the Raiders. Additionally, the running back room is a lot worse.
The Raiders have the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. There were a lot of rumors that they could use that pick to draft a quarterback if Shedeur Sanders fell in the draft. Now, they can focus on improving the offense around Smith. Tet McMillian would be a great pick for them if he is there at six.
What To Do With Geno Smith in Dynasty Leagues?
Smith is an aging quarterback with limited rushing upside. At best, he can be a QB2 for a couple of more seasons. At the moment, the situation in Vegas is worse than the situation in Seattle that Smith had last season. Overall, this is a downgrade for Smith. That does not mean it is panic time for Smith owners in dynasty leagues; however, I would not be actively trying to add Smith. I also do not think it is necessary to sell away Smith, especially in superflex or 2QB leagues. Smith will have solid production in 2025 but expect it to be less than what he had in 2024. He’s a hold for contenders and a sell at an excited price for rebuilders.
