ATP Miami Day 2 Predictions Including Kei Nishikori vs Yoshihito Nishioka

Kei Nishikori ahead of ATP Shanghai Masters.

The second ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season is upon us, in Miami, Florida. The ATP Miami Open is extremely prestigious and a lot of top players are seeking to win this for the first time. As ever, we preview and predict matches scheduled for Day 2.

ATP Miami Day 2 Predictions

Daniel Altmaier vs Coleman Wong

Head-to-head – First Meeting

The young player from Hong Kong received a wild card this week but it remains to be seen how well Coleman Wang makes use of it. He faces Daniel Altmaier who is a solid baseliner and will be looking to make a strong start this week. Expect Altmaier to use his experience on the main tour to get the better of his opponent.
Prediction: Altmaier in 2

Mariano Navone vs Lorenzo Sonego

Head-to-head – Navone 0-1 Sonego

Both players enter this tournament on the back of sub par 2025 season so far. Lorenzo Sonego is struggling to find his aggressive tennis that has yielded him great results in the past. Mariano Navone it’s still pretty new on the tour and it will be interesting to follow his career in the coming years. Expect Sonego to eventually find his rhythm on his serve and manage to wrestle control of the points.
Prediction: Sonego in 3

Luciano Darderi vs Pedro Martinez

Head-to-head – Darderi 1-1 Martinez

Neither player enters this week with wins in the recent weeks. Luciano Darderi has just the solitary win on the main tour this year and that is the statistic he would like to improve. Pedro Martinez did play well in the South American clay-court swing but it’s tough to see how that will translate into hard courts. Expect a slug fest with Martinez just scraping by on the back of his superior defences.
Prediction: Martinez in 3

Kei Nishikori vs Yoshihito Nishioka

Head-to-head – Nishikori 0-1 Nishioka

Yoshihito Nishioka returns to the main tour after more than a month and only time will tell how match fit he is. He faces the veteran in Kei Nishikori a player he did beat almost six years ago. Things have changed since then which makes this match very interesting. Nishikori is still pretty amazing on hard courts and Nishioka lacks the firepower to hit through the Japanese. Expect Nishikori to be at his attacking best and make a strong start here.
Prediction: Nishikori in 2
