It promises to be an exciting day of ATP Miami action. The mercurial and exciting Alexander Bublik is one of those who will take to the court in Florida. We at LWOT predict that match and all the others scheduled for Day 1, including Nick Kyrgios vs Mackenzie McDonald, Gael Monfils vs Fabian Marozsan, and Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Miomir Kecmanovic.
ATP Miami Day 1 Predictions
Corentin Moutet vs Alexander Blockx
Head-to-head: Blockx 1-0 Moutet
Moutet, known for being a fiery and unpredictable character, cannot afford complacency here. 19-year-old Blocx is very talented, and his game is continuing to develop. He always played well in qualifying to reach this stage. Moutet’s greater variety and experience make him the favorite, but this could be a competitive match.
Prediction: Moutet in 3
Alexandre Muller vs Rei Sakamoto
Head-to-head: First meeting
18-year-old Sakamoto will try to win his first ATP main draw match against Muller. Although Sakamoto possesses a game that will undoubtedly develop in the future, this should be a good draw for Muller. Sakamoto is ranked outside the Top 300 and winning a first ATP match might come too soon for him against the Frenchman.
Prediction: Muller in 2
Elliot Spizzirri vs Billy Harris
Head-to-head: First meeting
Harris has the benefit of getting some momentum from coming through the qualifying. Spizzirri was given a wild card for the Miami Open. The Briton played particularly well against Hugo Gason in the final round of qualifying and seemed to enjoy the conditions. He is narrowly favored to win and progress to the next round.
Prediction: Harris in 3
Alexander Bublik vs Sebastian Baez
Head-to-head: First meeting
Bublik’s level often fluctuates more than Baez’s, but the Kazakhstani is still the better player on hard courts at his best. Despite securing a title in Winston-Salem in 2023, Baez is a clay court specialist. The Argentine always fights hard and will do what he can to upset the odds. However, Bublik is still the favorite to triumph.
Prediction: Bublik in 2
