2025 Formula 2 Grid: Teams & Drivers Changes

The 2025 Formula 2 season has kicked off with pre-season testing and the gird has undergone some changes. Here is how they will go out on track in Melbourne come March 14-16.

2025 Formula 2 Teams and Drivers Lineup

With less than a month to go before the start of the 2025 Formula 2 championship, all teams have announced their drivers for this year’s grid. Among the various names are drivers with experience with the Dallara F2 2024.

Additionally, new drivers from Formula 3, whose skills have earned them a spot in this series leading up to Formula 1, will also be on track.

Throughout the year, F1 teams will closely monitor these drivers to see if any rising stars are in the grid and can join their team for years to come.

Invicta Racing

For 2025, the 2024 Teams’ champions have opted to field a lineup that features a more experienced driver alongside a rookie in the series.

The rookie, Leonardo Fornaroli, is the 2024 Formula 3 champion and has chosen to race with Invicta Racing, confirming the team’s strong reputation that attracts drivers eager to showcase their talents.

Roman Stanek, who is entering his third year in Formula 2, will partner with Fornaroli and share his valuable experience. Last year, the Czech driver raced with Trident but left the team after the Monza round.

Campos Racing

After a strong battle for the 2024 Drivers’ and Teams’ titles, Campos Racing are ready to compete again with two Red Bull drivers. Pepe Martì will be the more experienced of the two, having raced in Formula 2 last year.

The Spaniard, following a season filled with ups and downs, aims to showcase his skills.

However, at his side, there will be a difficult opponent for him. Arvid Lindblad, also chosen by Helmut Marko for the Red Bull junior program, delivered impressive performances in Italian Formula 4, which helped him progress to F3, where he competed for the title in his first season.

At just 17 years old, Lindblad is already in a position to aim for the 2025 Formula 2 title.

MP Motorsport

The Dutch team, MP Motorsport, have decided to continue with both drivers with whom it had finished 2024: Oliver Goethe and Richard Vershcoor. The former joined Formula 2 last year in the middle of the season, replacing the outgoing Franco Colapinto.

Despite some initial difficulties, Goethe showed significant improvement in the final two rounds, demonstrating his ability to adapt to the new car.

He will race alongside Richard Verschoor, a Formula 2 veteran who will start his fifth year in the series in 2025. With his experience, Verschoor is expected to take the lead and help the team compete at the front of the grid.

Hitech TGR

In 2025, the English team will feature two drivers from Formula 3 who at the end of the year already had a taste of Formula 2.

Luke Browning, a contender for the Formula 3 title last year, had raced with ART Grand Prix for the last three F2 races, reaching the points twice.

Dino Beganovic, who in 2024 had struggled in Formula 3, moving into the new series seemed to have found the performance of previous years, having collected remarkable results as a third place in the Sprint at Abu Dhabi.

PREMA Racing

PREMA Racing have also decided to line up two rookies in the series, with the risk that this decision could bring with it.

Gabriele Minì continues his path with the Italian team, after fighting for the title in Formula 3 and losing it only at the last race.

Next to him will be Sebastian Montoya, also from Formula 3 but with more modest results than his teammate. After a year of ups and downs in 2025, Prema Racing is preparing to return to the top positions in the standings.

DAMS Lucas Oil

Kush Maini and Jak Crawford form DAMS Lucas Oil’s lineup this year. Both with a lot of experience in the category, with the letter who finished the year in fifth place thanks to consistency showcased throughout the season.

Kush Maini, after having started the season in good shape and having picked up a victory in Hungary, by the end of the season faced numerous challenges.

ART Grand Prix

French team ART Grand Prix are aiming for a renaissance in 2025, believing that the lineup of Victor Martins and Ritomo Miyata is crucial to achieving this goal.

Martins was considered a potential title contender before the start of the 2024 season, and the same expectations year.

Meanwhile, Miyata has left Rodin Motorsport to join the French team. Last year, he scored points in eight different races, and this year, his goal is to maintain consistency.

Rodin Motorsport

Christian Mansell joins Australian team Rodin Motorsport for this season. In 2024 Mansell had finished the season in Formula 3 on a positive note, which had earned him promotion to Formula 2 for the last few rounds.

He will share the box with rookie Alexander Dunne. The Irish, Formula 4 British champion, raced in Formula 3 last year closing in fourteenth place. For 2025, this duo could surprise the rest of the grid.

AIX Racing

German team AIX Racing has confirmed the agreements made last year with Joshua Durksen and Cian Shields, securing both drivers for the 2025 season. Durksen had a strong rookie season, finishing positively with two wins.

Joining him will be the British driver Shields, who will have the opportunity to gain more experience in the series after making his debut in 2024 during the final two rounds.

Trident

Sami Megeutonif was promoted from Formula 3 after a successful 2024 season in which he showcased his skills. In his debut season in Formula 3, Megeutonif finished in tenth place, securing two wins.

He now faces another challenge in the upper series for the 2025 season, joining Trident.

He will be joined by Cian Shields, who participated in Formula 2 last season but failed to earn any points in the last two rounds.

Van Amersfoort Racing

The last team to confirm their 2025 grid was Van Amersfoort Racing, who have reconfirmed the 2024 two rookies: John Bennett and Rafael Villagomez.

The first, runner-up of the GB3 Championship in 2024, made his F2 debut in the last two rounds by scoring points at the Qatar feature race.

Villagomez raced the entire season last year, reaching the points four times. In his second season, the experience from the previous year could help improve his performance.
