Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Arsenal for March 9

Manchester United Open Talks For Jean-Philippe Matetea Transfer From Crystal Palace

How Much Could Mateta’s Signing Cost United?

French outlet L’Equipe has reported that the Red Devils have taken a step forward in pursuit of the Crystal Palace forward and have begun negotiations with the French forward’s representatives over the possibility of signing him in the 2025 summer transfer window. It won’t be an easy deal for them to sign the 27-year-old, who is currently contracted to his club until 2027.

The outlet also claims that Crystal Palace will not let the striker leave for cheap and are looking for at least £40 million to let him leave. Mateta has recently been in the news after he sustained a horrific neck injury during his side’s 3-1 win over Millwall in the FA Cup, causing him to receive 25 stitches. He has been in impressive form this season for the Eagles, leading the line well.

How Can Jean Philippe Mateta Fit In At Old Trafford?

The 27-year-old forward has been in excellent form for Crystal Palace since the beginning of 2025, having scored eight goals in as many league games. That included his excellent brace at Old Trafford in their 2-0 win over Manchester United, where he showcased his finishing prowess with two well-taken goals.

Mateta has scored 12 goals in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, which is over double the number of goals scored by Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee combined (five) in the ongoing season. The Frenchman has scored 44 goals for the Eagles since joining them in 2021 from Mainz and has been praised by Thierry Henry for offering ‘another dimension,’ but it remains to be seen if the Red Devils can convince Crystal Palace to part with their star striker.
